Marilyn J. CHMELAR

Marilyn J. CHMELAR, 78, of 208 W. Stroup St., died at 10:12 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

She was born March 9, 1935, in Ollie to William Martin and Elsie Lillian DICK CLINGAN. She married Bill CHMELAR on November 17, 1992.

Marilyn was a partner in Andeway Construction business for many years.

She was the director of the Senior Citizens Agency in Sigourney and worked in sales advertising for KBIZ and KLEE radio stations.

Marilyn owned and operated Green Prairie Realty in Richland and Fairfield and was involved in numerous rental properties.

She was a member of Prairie View United Methodist Church, Ollie Order of Eastern Star No. 549, and the Red Hat Society in Arizona.

She was a former member of Ollie Baptist Church.

Marilyn was a devoted Republican.

She loved music and entertained as "Sarabelle" with her autoharp and telling jokes.

She enjoyed sewing, creating Victorian lampshades, dancing, gardening and vacation winters in Apache Junction, AZ.

She enjoyed life and loved and admired her grandchildren.

Surviving is her husband, Bill; two daughters, Denise (John) NELSON of Richland, Suzanne ANDEWAY of Boston, MA; two sons, Jeff ANDEWAY (Mary SHILL) of Hedrick, Kelly ANDEWAY of Ollie; three step-sons, Steve (Lynne) CHMELAR of Ottumwa, Mark (Linda) CHMELAR of Dubuque and Larry (Micki) CHMELAR of Keota; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; 8 step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Pauline SAUTER (Bob HILL) of San Antonio, TX, Marjorie (Ray) FARRIER of Phoenix, AZ and Donna WILLIAMS of Richland.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Wilmer and Ervin CLINGAN.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with Larry Chmelar officiating. Burial will be in Doggett Cemetery (note: in Keokuk County, IA).

Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Sunday with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Iowa Hearing Association.
