Rites pending for CAVINESS

Donald G. CAVINESS, 68, rural Packwood, died at 12:10 a.m. today at Nelson Nursing Home.

CAVINESS was born may 24, 1918 at East Pleasant Plain, the son of Lloyd B. and Lillian HOOK CAVINESS. He was reared in the Fairfield area, and later married Winifred MURPHY. He was a member of the Catholic Church.

A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he retired from the military after serving from 1942 until 1963. He was employed for a short time at the former Louden Machinery Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Survivors include 10 children, Linda LILES of Brighton, Diane JOHNSON of Decorah, Donald Jr. of Knoxville, Margaret McVAY of Brighton, Myna NEWCOMB of Calmar, Trudy SHEETZ of Nederland, Texas, Rita ERICKSON of New Ulm, Minn., Tim CAVINESS of Fort Irwin, Calif., Judy SOBASKI of Fairfield and Sheila PECK of Fairfield; 25 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Annabelle POHREN of Brighton.

Burial with military honrs will be in St. Joseph Cemetery at East Pleasant Plain.
