Doris I. GILL, 88, of Fairfield and formerly of Richland, died early Friday, May 3, 2013, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

Arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Richland.

Doris Irene GILL

Doris Irene GILL, 88, of Richland, died Friday, May 3, 2013, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

The body was cremated and a graveside service is at 2 p.m. May 25 at Hillsboro Cemetery with the Rev. Harlan Van Voorst officiating.

A general memorial has been established and may be mailed to the family in care of William GILL, 204 W. North St., Richland 52585.

Gould Funeral Home of Richland is assisting the family.

Mrs. GILL was born Aug. 25, 1924, in Avon, Ill., the daughter of Carl Andrew and Edith Caroline BUCK NELSON. She married Arlo William GILL Feb. 8, 1943, in Keokuk. He died March 5, 1987.

She graduated from Avon High School.

She was a homemaker and cared for her disabled daughter Betty most of her life.

She also worked as a restaurant dishwasher.

She followed her husband's work living in Keosauqua, Salem, Hillsboro, Birmingham and Stockport before moving to Richland in 1980.

Survivors include three daughters, Jane GILBERT of St. Paul, Minn., JoAnn SCEARCY of Libertyville and Sue MESSMER and spouse Duane of Davenport; two sons, Terry GILL and spouse Kay of Albion and Bill GILL and spouse Sue of Richland; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Betty; one son-in-law, Harvey SEARCY (sic - SCEARCY?); and her brother, Lester NELSON.
