Merl DeGOOD

LINBY - Merl DeGOOD, 91, died this morning at Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City. His health had been failing since he suffered a stroke three years ago.

Arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Richland.

DeGOOD was born April 5, 1895 at Batavia, the son of Bertrum and Helen WRIGHT DeGOOD. He married Mary BAIRD. He later married Myrtle KLEIST on Nov. 3, 1939 at La Porte City. She survives.

Also surviving are a daughter Virginia TAYLOR of Ottumwa; a son, Marvin DeGOOD of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

DeGOOD had lived in Linby for the last 40 years. He was a painter and decorator for many years, a World War I veteran, a member of the Methodist church, and a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge of Batavia and OES of Ollie.
