Roger William WINN, 79, of Sterling, Illinois, formerly of Ollie, IA, was called to his heavenly home early Sunday, April 28, 2013, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, Illinois, surrounded by his loving family.
Roger was born October 18, 1933, at his home in Ollie, IA, the son of Afton and Zola (WOODY) WINN. He grew up in Ollie and married his lifelong partner, Beverly Ann DOOLIN on June 28, 1953, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Roger lived in Rockford, IL for several years and in Sterling, IL for over 30 years. He was employed by Rockford Blacktop as a mechanic for 36 years and retired in 1997. Roger was a member of the Harvest Time Bible Church and a lifetime member of Union Local 150.
Roger is survived by his wife, Beverly and their three children: Susan (Firm) McBETH of Richland, Jim (Becky) WINN of Lyndon, IL, and Kimberly (Randy) WILLIAMSON of Rock Falls, IL, eight grandchildren: Jamison (Royal) HARBISON, Quentin (Kelli) HARBISON, Korah (Gunter) SCHLUETER, Faith (Logan) LEE, Jonas (Adrianna CORBY) WINN, Jordan ( Robert CLAPPER) EDWARDS, Josie COURTNEY, and Jack WILLIAMSON, 6 stepgrandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren: Reilly, Drake and Delaney HARBISON, Layken and Trig LEE, and brothers Lyle (Geneva) WINN of Sigourney and Norman (Joanie) WINN of Ollie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-grandchild, Blake WILLIAMSON, one brother, Merlin WINN and his sister, Helen BLAKE.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday May 4, 2013, at the Ollie Baptist Church with Rev. Carla Nelson and Rev. Dalmus Meeks officiating. Burial will be in the Ollie Cemetery. The family will greet friends immediately preceding the funeral service, 9:30-11:00 A.M. Memorials for the Ollie Baptist Church or the Harvest Time Bible Church Missions Program may be left at the church or mailed to the family at 23705 Moline Road, Sterling, IL 61081. A memorial service will be held in Sterling at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Gould Funeral Home, Richland.
