Grace Lucas

Grace E. Lucas, 52, of Fairfield died at 5 p.m. March 18, 1986, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

She was born May 25, 1933, in Libertyville to Joseph and Candace Barnes Martin. She married Ray E. Lucas on April 22, 1950, in Keosauqua. She was the owner and operator of the Fairfield Hotel for 15 years and also a homemaker. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church and Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband; three sons, David, Darrell and Robert of Fairfield; a foster son, John Hemenway of Fairfield; a daughter, Elaine Lucas of Fairfield; two grandchildren; her stepmother, Berneice Martin of Madison, Wisconsin; a brother William Martin of Sigourney; a sister, Bonnie Graham of Hedrick; two half-brothers, Harold Martin of Augusta, Kan., and Joe Martin of Des Moines; two stepbrothers, Jerry Maxwell of Connecticut and Steven Hisel of Fairfield; and three stepsisters, Ilene Hoage of Fairfield, Thelma Hill of Madison, Wis., and Ruby Droz of Mount Pleasant.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home, the Rev. George Koch officiating. The casket will be cremated following the service.

Family Visitation is 7:30-8:30 p.m. today.

A memorial has been established to the Free Methodist Church.
