Anna P. VORHIES

Anna P. VORHIES, 95, of Mount Pleasant and formerly of Lockridge, died at 7:55 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000 at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Augustana Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lockridge. Burial will be in Lockridge Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at noon on Friday at Weir Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant with the family present from 6:30-7:20 p.m. Memorials have been established to Augustana Evangelical Lutheran Chruch or activity fund at Pleasant Manor Care Center.

Mrs. VORHIES was born Sept. 2, 1905 in Round Prairie Township of Jefferson County to Carl f. and Mary W. STYLANDER CARLSON. She married Glen W. ARNOLD on Feb. 2, 1930 in Fairfield. He died June 27, 1930. She then married Merlin K. VORHIES on Sept. 26, 1945 in Lincoln, Neb. He died Aug. 25, 1999.

After attending Lockridge High School for two years, she attended Brown Business College in Fairfield. She worked at IAAP in Middletown and was a clerk at the post office in Lockridge. She was also a bookkeeper for Carroll Vorhies Implement at Lockridge.

She was a member of Augustana Evangelical Lutheran Church and various church circles.

She is survived by one daughter, Betty W. ARNOLD of Mount Pleasant.

She is preceded in death by both husbands and one brother, Carl E. CARLSON.
