Catherine B. KURKA, 80, of Manorcare Health Services in Peoria, Ill., formerly of Fairfield, died at 4:10 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2002, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton, Ill., with the Rev. Mark De Sutter officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield, with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating.
Visitation will be held from 9-9:45 a.m. prior to the service Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Augustine Manor, 1301 N.E. Glendale Ave., Peoria, Ill. 61603, and Alzheimer's Association, Central Illinois Chapter, 606 W. Glen, Peoria, Ill. 61614-4831.
Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. KURKA was born Nov. 2, 1921, in Wittemore, the daughter of James and Catherine BOYLE O'BRIEN. She married Victor C. KURKA May 16, 1944 in Kossuth County.
She was a bookkeeper for Sorden Music in Fairfield for 10 years until retiring in 1996.
She was a member of blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton and a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the church Altar and Rosary Society in Fairfield. She also was a member of the VFW Women's Auxliary in Fairfield.
Survivors include he husband; two sons, Michael P. KURKA and wife Mary of Morton and William J. KURKA and wife Catherine of Mesa, Ariz.; one daughter, Mary KURKA of Chandler, Ariz.; and three grandchildren, two of which live in Fairfield: Ryan KURKA and Lee KURKA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; and four sisters.
