October 14, 1977LINDER Dies At 84
Edwin Gobble LINDER, 84, retired Fairfield banker, died at 2 a.m. today at Parkview Care Center. His home was at 500 E. Broadway.
Services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Bartruff and the Rev. John Wilken officiating. Burial will be in Fell Cemetery at Libertyville.
LINDER spent nearly all of his life in Jefferson County. He was born Oct. 24, 1892 in Abingdon, the son of William Vance and Annie GOBBLE LINDER. He was a graduate of Libertyville High School and Cedar Rapids Business College.
LINDER began his banking career in Kingston, Iowa, in 1916. He came to Fairfield in 1917 where he was associated with the First National Bank. In 1929 he joined the staff of the Iowa State Bank and Trust Co. He retired in 1963.
He served with U.S. Armed forces in Europe during World War I.
LINDER was married May 28, 1932 to Alma LEONARD MAY, who survives. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Harlow LAING, Chula Vista, Calif.; and a brother, R. Owen LINDER, Mason City.
LINDER was a member of the First Methodist Church, a charter member of the local American Legion post, past president of the Fairfield Golf and Country Club and a member of the VFW and Elks Lodge. He also served as clerk of the Jefferson County Selective Service Board, beginning in 1941.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
