Rites Tuesday for W.J. ARNDT

BRIGHTON - William J. "Bill" ARNDT, 79, native of the Brighton Community, died Sunday at the Washington County Hospital in Washington.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain with the Rev. Robert Busher officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery with the Gould Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Prayers for a Christian Wake are scheduled for this evening at the church beginning at 7:30 p.m. followed by the Knights of Columbus Rosary service.

William J. ARNDT was born March 5, 1905, on a farm south of Brighton. He was the son of William and Elizabeth FRANZEN ARNDT. He never married.

Survivors include a brother Anthony, Fairfield; and six sisters, Gertrude FRITZ and Mary ARNDT, both residents of the Washington Care Center; Anna and Margaret ARNDT, rural Brighton; Cecilia MILLANE, Fairfield; and Matilda MURRAIN, Liberty, Mo. He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

Arndt was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Jefferson County Farm Bureau. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus and held a number of offices in that organization. He operated a farm south of Brighton all of his life.
