Franklin LeRoy BELL

Franklin LeRoy BELL, formerly of 307 South B St. died at 2:55 a.m. Wdnesday (sp), Nov. 8, 2000, at Parkview Care Center.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Norman Channel officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at noon Friday, with the family present from 6-7 p.m. Memorials have been established to the children's department of the Fairfield Public Library.

Mr. BELL was born Feb. 3, 1910, near Birmingham in Van Buren County, the son of Royal Franklin and Ella May NICHOLS BELL. He married Geneva DAVISON Nov. 21, 1928, in Fairfield.

A lifetime resident of Jefferson County and Fairfield, Mr. BELL worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps camps in the 1930s in Fairfield and Keosauqua. He was a farmer, a trucker hauling lime and rock, a bus driver and also worked as a custodian at Louden Machinery Company and First Presbyterian Church in Fairfield.

Survivors include his wife, nine children: Lois SASSEEN of Fairfield, Keith BELL of Tallahassee, Fla., Raymond BELL of Canyonville, Ore., Glen BELL of Cullman, Ala., Shirley LUZADDER of Lockridge, Frank BELL of Fairfield, Roger BELL of Roseburg, Ore., Tom BELL of Palmyra, Mo., and Terry BELL of Maywood, Mo.; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bob BELL of Odesa, Texas, and Troy BELL of Lake Havasue, Ariz.; three sisters, Marjorie WILBUR of Fort Smith, Ark., Betty COTTRELL of St. Louis, Mo., and Minnie THACTH (sp) of Grant's Pass, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roy BELL in infancy and Kenneth BELL; and four grandchildren.
