Leonard CRAFTON, 79, of Birmingham died Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at the Jefferson County Health Center.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham.

Leonard Dwayne CRAFTON

Leonard Dwayne "Hard Rock" CRAFTON, age 79, of Birmingham died Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

Leonard was born January 14, 1934, at Birmingham, the son of Samuel Walter and Bertha Ellen PICKEREL CRAFTON.

He lived all of his life in the Birmingham community and graduated from Birmingham High School in 1952.

He amrried Shirley Ann CARTER in July 1959.

He served in the military during the Korean War.

Leonard worked at American Chain and Cable Company in Fairfield for 25 years.

He also worked at Fairfield Aluminum Casting Company in Fairfield and served as town marshal for Birmingham.

He coached Little League Baseball and women's softball.

He was a Golden Glove boxer in his younger years and was an avid hunter, fisherman and coon hunter.

Deceased family members include his parents; 5 brothers, Roy, Robert, Kenneth, Paul and Raymond CRAFTON; and 3 sisters, Mildred BROWN, Marjorie JARMES and Joann JONES.

Surviving are his wife Shirley; 2 daughters, Peggy (Charlie) LEE and Lorie ( Bill ) SICKELS, all of Birmingham; 3 sons, Terry (Mary HAYNES) CRAFTON of Birmingham, Michael CRAFTON of Fairfield and Marlon CRAFTON of Birmingham; 4 grandsons, Travis (Elizabeth) DIMMITT of Maryville, Missouri, Dustin ( Janie ) SICKELS, Kyle CRAFTON and Miles CRAFTON, all of Birmingham; 3 great-grandchildren, Mattie and Charlie DIMMITT and Teagan SICKELS; 2 sisters, Marilyn (Ralph) RETTIG of Wever, Iowa, and Idora CRAFTON of Keosauqua.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. Sunday, March 10, at Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham with Pastor Danny Care officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham, following cremation (.)

The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home in Birmingham.

Memorials have been established to the Physical Therapy Department and the Respiratory Therapy Department at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

The arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham.
