Henry Wayne GLOTFELTY

Dr. Henry Wayne GLOTFELTY, a resident of Highlandville, MO passed away February 26, 2013 in his home.

Wayne was born March 23, 1923, to Susan and Floyd GLOTFELTY on their family farm near Fairfield, IA. Wayne was one of three children. His older brother Galen died of diphtheria when Wayne was a young child.

Wayne graduated from medical school from Louisville, KY in 1945.

Wayne will always be remembered as a loving husband, a brother to be looked up to, a proud father, a grandfather who always made time for a walk and a story, a friend who had the time, and a kind face in the crowd.

Wayne was married to Clarice Lindsey TIPTON GLOTFELTY on January 1, 1944 in Moultrie, Georgia. They just celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary last month. There were 3 children born of their marriage.

Wayne was a man of faith, served his country for over 30 years as a Psychiatrist in the United States Public Health Service, worked for the City of Dallas and State of Texas as a Psychiatrist for over 20 years, and did not retire until the age of 80.

Wayne loved the outdoors and created his own wildlife refuge on his farm. Over his lifetime, he planted thousands of trees. He would give a stranger his last dollar and made friends with everyone who crossed his path. When he would spend too much time talking to someone and his wife would ask what happened to him, he simply stated, "I was talking to a man about a bale of hay".

Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Clarice Lindsey TIPTON GLOTFELTY, of Highlandville, MO and his brother, John GLOTFELTY of Lakeland, FL. Wayne's surviving children are Henry Wayne GLOTFELTY II and spouse Mardy of Birmingham, AL, Merrily PARKER and spouse Ron of Springfield, MO; Dianna GLOTFELTY, wife of John GLOTFELTY (the oldest son, deceased). Wayne's surviving grandchildren are James GLOTFELTY and spouse Fely McMATH of Springfield, MO; Michelle & Mary GLOTFELTY of Waynesville, MO; Heather PARKER of Springfield, MO; Holly FLETCHER and spouse Rodney of Springfield, MO; and Henry GLOTFELTY III of Birmingham, AL.
