Cedric M. RAYMOND, 70, retired Fairfield businessman, died at 5 p.m. Thursday at a hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
He suffered a severe heart attack and was hospitalized five weeks ago while in Florida and later underwent heart surgergy.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clair Odell Officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Family visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Raymond Funeral Home.
Cedric M. RAYMOND was born Feb. 16, 1912, in Fairfield. He was the son of Roy and Bessie CLINKENBEARD RAYMOND. He lived practically all of his life in Fairfield, graduating with the Fairfield High School Class of 1930.
He attended Parsons College and was employed by the Iowa Highway Commission prior to the World War II. He served with the Merchant Marines during the conflict.
RAYMOND was employed by Mark Hoskins at the funeral home from 1946 to 1959 at which time he and his brother Jack L. purchased the business from Hoskins. Cedric retired in 1977.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, he was a past exalted rule of Elks, he was a member of the Masons, Shrine and a past president of the Rotary Club.
He was married June 21, 1947, to Bernice GIBSON CULBERTSON in Burlington. She survives.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by a daughter, Lu Ann MUNRO, Dalla, Texas, and a son, Gary RAYMOND, Mobile, Ala.
Other survivors include six grandchildren and one great-grandson; four brothers, Arthur, Pompano Beach, Fla.; Cyril, Jack and Richard, all of Fairfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and a sister.
The family home is at 207 Iowa Avenue.
