January 20, 2004Glen D. Hill, 87, of Edinburg, Texas, formerly of Fairfield and Bloomfield, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at Comfort House in McAllen, Texas.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Henkenius-Preiester Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with the Rev. Jim Wakelin officiating. Burial will be in Drakesville Cemetery.
Open visitation will be held after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m., followed by family visitation until 8:30 p.m.
A memorial has been established to the Comfort House of the First Christian Church of Mission, Texas, and may be left at the funeral home.
Mr. Hill was born March 11, 1916, at home near Bloomfield, the son of Ernest J. and Minnie Maude Hill. He married Marie White May 3, 1943.
He worked the family farm as a young man and taught rural school in Davis County after graduating from high school. He then worked in the Chevrolet Garages as a parts manager in Fairfield and Bloomfield, retiring in 1991.
He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Fairfield and affiliated with First Christian churches of Bloomfield and Mission. He was a 50-year member of the Masons and belonged to Clinton Lodge 15 of Fairfield. He also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 39 and a former member of Kiwanis Club of Fairfield.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Deanna Cochran; two grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Lenore Archer, Forence Whitlatch and Lola Porter; and three brothers, William, Carl and Bob Hill.
