Loren Willis PARKER

Loren Willis PARKER, 82, of Fairfield died at 10:02 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Thomas P. Phillips officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Family visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church Missions or Fairfield Senior Citizen Center.

Mr. PARKER was born June 18, 1918, the son of Rev. George G. and Jessie McCLINTOCK PARKER. He married Maxine Bernice PETERSON June 1, 1941.

He had lived most of his life in the Fairfield community. He attended Parsons College for two years. He had owned and operated Parker Grocery Store and was a scheduler for J & B Plastics and Rockwell International. After he retired, he worked for the RC & D testing for soil conservation. He also was a United States Army Air Corps veteran serving with the 312th bomb group in World War II.

He was a charter member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairfield. He was a member of the YMCA and a leader of the youth groups and Y Indian Guides.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael A. PARKER of Libertyville and Kevin Ray PARKER of Marion, Ind.; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Bruce M. PARKER of Oklahoma City, Okla. and David PARKER of Clinton; and one sister, Ada XANDER of Waverly, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, the Rev. Gordon G. PARKER and the Rev. Robert F. PARKER; and one sister, Jane ANDRESON(sp).
