Arlene E. PAYNE

Arlene E. PAYNE, 79, of Leawood, Kan., died Monday, June 4, 2001, after a short illness.

A memorial service for Mrs. PAYNE and her husband David E. PAYNE, who died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. John's United Methodist Church in Kansas City. Burial will be at Union Cemetery in Kansas City.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Union Cemetery Historical Society, St. John's United Methodist Church, or Harvesters Community Food Network of Kansas City.

Arrangements were handled by D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Funeral Chapel in Overland Park, Kan.

Mrs. PAYNE was born in Jefferson County and lived in the Kansas City area for most of her 55 years of marriage. She also resided in Davenport from 1961-1974.

Mrs. PAYNE was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Elizabeth Benton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Business and Professional Women organization and past president of the Union Cemetery Historical Society.

Survivors include three sons, Robert PAYNE and wife Lynda of Cedar Rapids, John PAYNE and wife Debbie of Tampa, Fla. and Don PAYNE of Leawood; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Leighfern BUCKLES and Velma "Billie" BANGS of Leawood.

Preceding her in death were her husband; and one son, David Michael.
