Roberta L. AHRENS

Roberta L. AHRENS, 76, of Keosauqua died at 1:13 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.

The body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kurt Makower officiating. A private family burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Family visitation will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Saturday at Behner Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to River View Club in Keosauqua.

Mrs. AHRENS was born Dec. 18, 1926, in Fairfield, the daughter of Donald and Hattie POGEMILLER WILLSON. She married Edward F. AHRENS June 4, 1948, in Fairfield.

Mrs. AHRENS lived all her life in the Fairfield community until moving to Keosauqua 10 years ago.

She and her husband owned and operated Ahrens Candy Wholesale. She was employed as an assistant registrar at Parsons College. Later, she was an legal assistant at Kelly & Morrisey Law Office in Fairfield.

She was a member of the Congregational Church.

She also was a member of P.E.O. and River View Club.

Survivors include her huband of Keosauqua; four daughter, Abby BEMIS and husband Bob of Ottumwa, Pat PECK of Fairfield, Jane PILZ and husband Bob of Santee, Calif., and Mary ROLAND and husband Dennis of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Phil WILLSON of Council Bluffs and Roger WILLSON of Pound Ridge, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Donald WILLSON; and two sisters, Doris MARTIN and Pat CASADY.
