Clair Virgil HOLANDER

Clair Virgil HOLLANDER, 79, 807 W. Tyler Ave., died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Marvin Robeck officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Family visitation will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church or to Jefferson County Hospice.

Mr. HOLLANDER was born Jan. 13, 1922, near Salina, the son of Alvin A. and Maud C. LARSON HOLLANDER. He married Gladys Irene VAN WINKLE Sept. 4, 1947, at the Hope Lutheran Church in Germanville.

He lived in the Salina community until 1991 when he was moved to Fairfield. He was a farmer in the Lockridge township before his retirement.

He was a member of the Jefferson County Farm Bureau, Heritage Club and the First Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife Gladys Irene HOLLANDER of Fairfield; three sons, Ronald HOLLANDER and wife Deborah of Burlington, Bruce A. HOLLANDER and wife Nicole of Fairfield and Brian L. HOLLANDER of Fairfield; one daughter, Penny S. ROLAND of Fairfield; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Lucille EMMACK of Bairfield, Marie SWENSON of Fairfield and Dorothy QUACKENBUSH of Glendale, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Nancy J. HOLLANDER; one brother, Glen HOLLANDER; and one sister, Margaret DIERS.
