Christopher R.K. MacLEAN, 45, of Fairfield died of cancer Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
A private family service will be held at 3 p.m. today in Nova Scotia. A celebration of his life will be held at Morning Star Studio in Fairfield at a later date. A jam session, hosted by Mr. MacLEAN's fellow musicians is planned and friends are invited to honor him with written memorials that will be read at the service. Memorials may be e-mailed to Margaret Kesterson at or faxed to 472-8131. Flowers may be sent to VayTek, 305 W. Lowe Ave., Suite 109, Fairfield 52556. Donations in his name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
MacLEAN was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the son of C. Howard and Peggy MacLEAN.
He earned a bachelor of science degree at Acadia University in Halifax and a doctor of philosphy in physiology at Maharishi International University in 1995. He was employed with VayTek and was bass guitarist for the local band Stormy Heaven.
Survivors include his mother of Bedford, Nova Scotia; one sister, Charlotte FOSTER; and three brothers, David, John and Sandy MacLEAN.
He was preceded in death by his father.
