Jack W. HOUSTON, 82, of rural Milton, died at 5:16 p.m. Saturday Feb. 9, 2013, in the emergency room of Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.
In accord with his wishes the body has been cremated.
A memorial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial of cremains will be in Lebanon Cemetery (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).
Visitation with family present is 1-2 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorials to the family may be left at the funeral home or mailed to 13222 210th St. Milton 52570.
Mr. HOUSTON was born July 27, 1930, near Mount Pleasant, the son of J. Clarence and Pearl WERNER HOUSTON. He married Violet PILCHER Aug. 26, 1960, in Fairfield.
He grew up in Henry County and graduated from Mount Pleasant High School.
He farmed, was an auctioneer and worked at Van Buren County Home, Keosauqua Sale Barn and Barker LTD, all in Keosauqua. He worked 30 years at Mid States Manufacturing Co., in Milton.
He served in the Iowa Army National Guard.
He showed cattle at county fairs and loved horses.
Survivors include his wife; one son, James HOUSTON of Milton; two daughters, Wauneta PHILIPS and spouse Daniel of Birmingham and Ruth HOUSTON of Mount Pleasant; two granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
