Mary F. HACKERT

Mary F. HACKERT, 86, of Richland died Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Maplewood Manor in Keota.

A memorial service is set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Richland United Methodist Church in Richland, with the Rev. Carl Benge officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Reed Cemetery on the family farm.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with the family present from 5-7 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. As was her wish, the body has been cremated. Memorials may be made to Richland United Methodist Church or Richland Pink Party for a Cure.

Mrs. HACKERT was born Jan. 9, 1927, in rural Reasnor, the daughter of Jesse and Sophia DeJONG CARPENTER. She married Ralph HACKERT Dec. 19, 1946, near Reasnor.

Mrs. HACKERT attended the Richland Independent Country School near Reasnor. When she was young, she and her sister Cleora traveled across Iowa playing accordion. They also performed on WHO.

Mrs. HACKERT and her husband moved to the famly farm north of Richland in 1957. She worked on the farm and was an important part of the family business. She also worked as a bookkeeper in various agricultural businesses.

She loved to play organ, and she and her husband provided music for many occasions. She also played piano and organ for Richland United Methodist Church for many years. She was a member of Richland United Methodist Church.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren, bird watching, flowers, gardening and working with the family.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Bonnie INGERSOLL and husband Dale of Richland, Sharon TRANER and husband Mark of Milwaukee, Wis., and Rhonda NOEL and husband Mike of Richland, one son, Craig HACKERT and wife Darcy of Richland; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Cleora VAN WAARDHUIZEN.
