Peggy AMBROSE

Peggy AMBROSE, 66, of North Liberty and formerly of Brighton, died at home Saturday Feb. 16, 2013, following a brief illness.

A funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Brighton United Church with the Rev. Rick Zickefoose officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery following cremation (note: in Brighton, Washington Co., IA).

Visitation opens at 4 p.m. Tuesday with family present from 6:30-8 p.m. at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton.

Memorials for Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation may be left at the funeral home, church or mailed to the family at 300 CR 521, Fairfield, Texas 75840.

Mrs. AMBROSE was born Jan. 14, 1947, in Mount Pleasant the daughter of Joseph O. and Ruth E. VOLGER SMITH. She married Farrel E. AMBROSE Jan. 24, 1973, in Iowa City. He died Nov. 3, 1995.

She grew up in the Coppock/Brighton area and graduated from Washington High School in 1965.

She lived in Colorado, Texas, Missouri and Ohio, but most of her life was spent in Iowa.

She worked for Rockwell-Collins in Coralville and had been co-owner of JR Recycling in Brighton.

As a homemaker she was active in the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Brighton Saddle Club and the Brighton Volunteer First Responders.

Survivors include five children, Melinda SCHNICKER, of Washington, Iowa, Misty JONES of Fairfield, Texas, Stanley AMBROSE and spouse Mandi of North Liberty, Kristi SMITH and spouse Shane of Lacora and Jackie AMBROSE of Iowa City; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five brothers, Jerry SMITH, Jack SMITH, Dennie SMITH and Rick SMITH all of Washington, Iowa, and Tim SMITH of Brighton; and two sisters: Connie SHELANGOSKI and Nancy KELLY, both of Brighton.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Shirley GORDON and one brother, Gary SMITH.
