Maxine L. Hogue
January 15, 2004Maxine L. Hogue, 85, of Geneseo, Ill., died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at Hammond-Henry Hospital Skilled Care in Geneseo.
The funeral was held at 1 p.m. Dec. 23 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Kewanee, Ill., with the Rev. Dr. Burnell Eckardt officiating. Burial was in North Cemetery in Geneseo.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Restoration Fund or the American Lung Association.
Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hogue was born Jan. 25, 1918, in Rhinelander, Wis. the daughter of Harry D. and Beulah A. Burns Pence. She married Paul L. Hogue June 16, 1940, in Bonaparte. He died Sept. 21, 2001.
Mrs. Hogue graduated from White Oak High School in Elkart in 1935. Her pastimes included sewing, crocheting, cooking and being with her family.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kewanee.
Survivors include two daughters, Berniece Harris and husband Stephen of Geneseo and Betty Dakan and husband David of Bella Vista, Ark.; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one sister-in-law, Mildred Pence of Keosauqua.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Alvena Pratt; and two brothers, Alfred Pence and Floyd Bud Pence.
