Betty Miller, 68, of rural Fairfield, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Prairie View United Methodist Church on Highway 78 near Packwood Road, with the Rev. Shirley Hoffman-Will officiating. Burial will be in Sorden Cemetery, near Webster.

Visitation will begin after 3 p.m. Friday at Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney.

A memorial fund has been established.

Mrs. Miller was born Oct. 23, 1935, near Deep River, the daughter of Leslie and Dallas Moore Oster. She married Richard Miller April 12, 1959, at Webster Methodist Church. He died Feb. 1, 1996.

Mrs. Miller graduated from Webster High School in 1953. She was employed at the Keokuk County Courthouse as deputy clerk of court and in the auto department. She then worked in the clerks office at the Jefferson County Courthouse until retiring in 1998.

The Millers moved to the Fairfield area in January 1966.

Mrs. Miller was a member of the Prairie View United Methodist Church near Ollie, the Cedar Valley Iris and Day Lily Society, of which she was president for two years, and the Red Hat Society.

Survivors include one daughter, Ann Cutts of Newton; one son, Mark Miller of Coon Rapids; four grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Wallerstedt of Arlington, Texas, and Judy Davisson of Waterford, Mich.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Ester Howe.
