January 05, 2004Rex D. Leeper, 80, of Ottumwa died at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home and Crematory, with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating. Burial will be in Packwood Cemetery.
Open visitation began at 10 a.m. today and will continue until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
Mr. Leeper was born April 3, 1923, in Crawfordsville, the son of Paul and Marie Snider Leeper. He married Helen Kessel Feb. 18, 1950, in Fairfield.
Mr. Leeper graduated from Packwood High School with the class of 1941. He attended Parsons College for two years. He lived and farmed in the Packwood area until 1976. He then worked for the State of Iowa Weights and Measures Department for nine years.
He was affiliated with the Christian church.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Gary Leeper and wife Janet of Germantown, Wis.; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Dolores Vannoy of Ottumwa and Pauline Harreld of Manchester.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.
