Clarence Eugene SHY, 92, of Fairfield, died today, Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at the Jefferson County Health Center.

Arrangements are pending at Behner Funeral Home.

Clarence 'Pete' Eugene SHY

Clarence "Pete" Eugene SHY, 92, of Fairfield, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at the Jefferson County Health Center.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Visitation for family and friends will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Noah's Ark Animal Foundation. Cards and memorials may be sent to Ronald Shy at Box 330, Cape Fair, Mo., 65624.

Mr. SHY was born Sept. 22, 1920, in Richland, the son of Clarence and Zella WALTON SHY. He married Catherine Louise VanDerSNICK Oct. 3, 1943, in Fairfield. She preceded him in death.

Mr. SHY worked for a gas and oil business for 30 years. He worked in an industrial vending business with his son until he retired in 1983.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge 1192.

Survivors include one son, Ronald Eugene SHY of Cape Fair, Mo.; one grandson; one great-granddaughter; and a special friend, Mary Collins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Naoma SASSEEN and Pauline BRAUND; and one brother, Raymond SHY.
