Richard L. McALLISTER, 80, of Mount Pleasant, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at the Park Place Long Term Care Unit in Mount Pleasant.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Bryan Katchay officiating.
Visitation will be held at noon Friday at the chapel with the family present from 7-9 p.m.
Interment will be at Forest Home Cemetery with full military rites.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mount Pleasant Girls' Softball Association or to the donor's choice.

Mr. McALLISTER was born March 21, 1932, in Fairfield, the son of Everett Leo and Flora Grace PETERSON McALLISTER. He married Donna Belle ACKLES Nov. 27, 1953 in Iowa City. She died April 18, 1997.
Mr. McALLISTER graduated from Lockridge High School in 1950.
He served in the United States Army for two years during the Korean War.
He moved to Mount Pleasant in 1955 and worked for 43 years at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, as a carpenter and later as a supervisor.
He was a founding member of the Mount Pleasant Girls' Softball Association, McAllister Field was named in his honor.
He was a 25-year member of the Henry County Rescue Squad, a lifetime member of the American Angus Association, and a charter member of the Iowa City coin club.
He also was a member of the Farm Bureau, American Legion Post 58, and Mount Pleasant Moose Lodge 1003.
He was a longtime volunteer at Midwest Old Threshers and a member of Southeast Iowa Antique Car Association.
Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Diane HILL and husband Brett of Danville and Mary McLERRAN and spouse Michael of New London; two sisters, JoAnn HOWE of Oquawka, Ill., and Dorothy SWANSON of West Burlington; and one brother, Francis McALLISTER of Burlington; five grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife.
