Doris D. LANE

ELDON, Iowa -- Doris D. LANE, age 85 of Keosauqua, formerly of Eldon, passed away at 7:18 AM, Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Good Samaritan Society of Van Buren County.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 28 at Grace Funeral Care in Eldon, with Pastor Dave Albert officiating. Burial will be in Eldon Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Friday morning at Grace Funeral Care, immediately prior to the funeral service.

Doris was born on December 24, 1927 in Eldon, the daughter of Mont C. and Mildred G. BLACK STAGERS. She was educated in the Eldon school system, and graduated from Eldon High School. On September 19, 1946 she married Alvin LANE. He preceded her in death on October 1, 1982.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra BARKER and husband Robert of Keosauqua, and Sheryl KITZMAN and husband Terry of Milton; two step-sons, Robert LANE and wife Emma of Eldon, and Paul LANE and wife Dixie of Ottumwa; three grandchildren, Christy WILEY, Doug TURNER, and Stacy RICHARDS; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, George STAGERS of Ottumwa; and one sister, Sharon GLASGOW and husband Ronnie of Eldon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one infant sister, and one son-in-law.

Doris had been employed for Frank Shane, Attorney at Law in Eldon. She had also worked at the Eldon, Selma, and Cardinal schools, and as the Eldon City Clerk. After her retirement she worked through the AARP doing income taxes. She was a member of the Degree of Honor, and the Past Time Club. She enjoyed yard work, gardening, and reading.

A memorial fund is being established for the Eldon Public Library, or Good Samaritan Society Activity Fund.
