Friday, January 29, 1982Joseph HOOK dies at 67
BRIGHTON - Joseph H. HOOK, 67, died this morning at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City where he had been a patient since Jan. 20. He had been in failing health for some time.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in E. Pleasant Plain with the Rev. Louis Leonhardt officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton. Memorials have been established to the Cancer Fund, St. Joseph's Church and Southeast Iowa Antique Car Club.
HOOK was born April 17, 1914 at the family farm four miles south of Brighton, the son of Albert J. and Mary A. PECK HOOK. He married Dorothy BAGBY Aug. 14, 1976 at St. Joseph's Church. She survives.
Also surviving are a sister, Gertrude RUBEY of Brighton; one niece and three nephews.
He had farmed on the family farm the past 50 years. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, where he was a parish council member and a past council president. He was Penn Township clerk for many years and a charter member of SE Iowa Antique Car Club. He graduated from Pleasant Plain High School and the National Insitute of Meatpacking in Chicago.
