Donald "Podger" KITCHEN, 61, of 301 S. 15th St., died at 1:27 a.m. today, March 29, 1989, at Veterans Regional Hospital in Iowa City.
He was born May 17, 1927, in Jefferson County, the son of Samuel and Vernie MARING KITCHEN. He had been a farmer and farmhand. He was a veteran of World War II with service in the U. S. Army. He attended the United Methodist Church.
Kitchen is survived by a daughter, Christy TAGUE of Fairfield and one grandson Derek; four brothers, Paul of Fairfield, Sam of Fairfield, Gerald of Batavia and Jim of Bladinsville, Ill.; and three sisters, Kathryn DUNCAN of Hillsboro, Geraldine PEEBLER and Barbara MELTON both of Fairfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Billie, and three sisters, Florence, Nellie and Neva.
A graveside service with military rites will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Batavia Cemetery with the Rev. Shirley Meendering officiating.
Persons may sign the register at Behner Funeral Home beginning Thursday.
