Crash Kills Woman

A former Fairfield resident was killed, and her husband, also a former Fairfield resident, was injured in a traffic accident Tuesday at Las Vegas, Nevada.

The victims are Cheryl RHODES SYMMONDS, 19, and Airman 1st Class Monte SYMMONDS, 20.

Information reaching Fairfield said the couple were driving to a grocery store in Las Vegas Tuesday morning when another car disobeyed a stop sign and rammed their vehicle.

Mrs. SYMMONDS was pregnant at the time, her baby due Dec. 1 or 2. The baby was also lost in the accident.

Airman SYMMONDS is a patient in a hospital in Las Vegas suffering from multiple injuries. His condition was not reported.

No word has been received here concerning last rites for Mrs. SYMMONDS.

Cheryl RHODES SYMMONDS is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth RHODES, 904 W. Briggs. She was born Dec. 28, 1956. Reports said her parents are in Las Vegas where her mother had planned to be with her daughter when the baby was born. Mrs. SYMMONDS graduated from the Fairfield High School with the Class of 1975.

Monte RHODES (err: SYMMONDS) is the son of Mrs. Helen SYMMONDS, 207 North D, and graduated from the Fairfield Community High School in 1974.

Shortly after his graduation, he entered the U.S. Air Force. He is currently stationed at Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas.

SYMMONDS Rites Set

Funeral services for Mrs. Cheryl Ann SYMMONDS and her infant son, Brandon Stephen SYMMONDS, will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Fairfield Methodist Church.

The Rev. George Koch will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery at Memphis, Mo.

Mrs. SYMMONDS, the wife of Airman 1st Class Monte W. SYMMONDS, was killed last Tuesday in a traffic accident in Las Vegas, Nev. They were awaiting the birth of their first child when the accident occurred.

The family will receive friends this evening form 7 to 8 at the Raymond Funeral Home. The casket will be taken to the church at noon Tuesday.

Mrs. SYMMONDS was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth RHODES, Fairfield.
