Mildred HARLAN rites here

A. Mildred HARLAN, 73, former Fairfield resident, died Thursday at a nursing home in Doniphan, Mo.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Clair Odell officiating. An Eastern Star service will also be conducted. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday. A memorial has been established to the American Heart Association for cardiovascular research.

Mrs. HARLAN was born Dec. 31, 1908 at Capron, Okla., the daughter of Walter J. and Grace ZIGLER RANSON. She was married to Leslie W. HARLAN and the family farmed near Stockport for a number of years. She moved to Fairfield, where she lived until moving to Doniphan, Mo., two years ago.

Surviving are two daughters, Joyce STAGGS of Doniphan, Mo., Ilene BROWN of Bridgewater; one son, Melvin HARLAN of Kremlin, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Florence COCHRAN of Fairfield, Naomi "Peggy" HOFFMAN of Harvest, Ala., and one brother, Kenneth RANSON of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Mrs. HARLAN was a member of the United Methodist church and the Fontanelle Chapter 315 of Eastern Star.

Admin. note: Buried in Lot 3rd.218. It would appear she and Leslie were divorced at some point, because he married two times after Alice, died in 1984, and was buried in Hughson, CA.
