Jeanne A. WAUGH POINTER

Jeanne A. WAUGH POINTER, 86, passed away on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Kavanagh House. She was born and raised in Burlington, Iowa and was the daughter of Harry H. and Ruth WAUGH.

Jeanne received her BA degree at the University of Iowa and also attended the Graduate School of Social Work there. In 1954 she and Marshall N. POINTER were married in Santa Fe, New Mexico. They lived in Fairfield, Iowa and Charleston West Virginia prior to moving with their two daughters to Des Moines in 1963.

Jeanne was well known for her work with the United Way Information and Referral Program (First Call for Help) and retired there after 25 years of service.

Jeanne is survived by her daughters, Caryl POINTER and Lisa (Eric) KEINTZ both of Des Moines and her sister Beverly (John) CRAY of Burlington, as well as a niece and several nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994; her parents and a brother, Harry G. WAUGH.

According to Jeanne's wishes, her body has been cremated and a private graveside service will be held at Glendale Cemetery (note: in Polk Co., IA).
