Joseph L. PECK, 65, who with his wife operated a grocery store in East Pleasant Plain for 27 years, died at 1:45 p.m. Monday at the Jefferson County Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. William Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in East Pleasant Plain.
Prayers for a Christian Wake will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Raymond Funeral Home.
Joseph L. PECK was born March 29, 1917, near Pleasant Plain, the son of Paul and Rose KREGOSKI PECK. He married Maxine SUPALLA April 12, 1939 at St. Joseph Church in East Pleasant Plain.
PECK was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. In addition to operating the store at East Pleasant Plain for a number of years, PECK also farmed in the area for eight years, he was employed by the county, employed at Pickard Lumber Co. and drove a school bus prior to his retirement. They moved to Fairfield in December, 1977. The family home is located at 600 E. Buchanan.
In addition to his widow, PECK is survived by nine children: Ann McNEW, Cresco; Ronald, Montezuma; Janet LEDGER, East Pleasant Plain; Jack, Brighton; Linda NAUMANN, Charles City; Fred, Houston, Texas; Philip, Flint, Mich.; Gary, Bell Plaine; and Charles, Montezuma.
Other survivors include 17 grandchildren; seven brothers and sisters: Vince PECK, Rock Island, Ill.; Kasylda LAMANSKY, Brighton; Adeline DRISH, Brighton; Robert PECK, Indianapolis, Ind.; Louise FORBES, Fairfield; Laurine ARMETTA, Rock Island, Ill.; and William PECK, East Pleasant Plain. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
