O. Mervin SKIRVIN

O. Mervin SKIRVIN, age 93, of Birmingham died Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society in Keosauqua.

He was born February 13, 1919, at Batavia, Iowa the son of Rawley and Nellie COPELAND SKIRVIN.

He attended Winchester school in Van Buren County.

He married Evelyn SAULSBERY on November 13, 1944. They were later divorced.

Mervin was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served as a military policeman during World War II.

He had lived in Fairfield and worked for the Fairfield City Streets Department for 17 years and later as a guard at Rockwell for 13 years before his retirement.

Deceased family members include his son John D. SKIRVIN; his parents, 3 brothers: William Edwin (Bill) SKIRVIN, Leonard (Jiggs) SKIRVIN and James Lewis (Pat) SKIRVIN; 2 sisters: Ruth ORRIS and Fern, in infancy.

Surviving are his daughter Joyce and husband Francis COFFIN of Birmingham; 4 grandchildren: Sheri (Doug) RUDDER, Jeremy ( Staci) COFFIN; Nathan (Sara) COFFIN and Josh COFFIN; plus his great-grandchildren; Becca RUDDER, Emma & Jay COFFIN and Hannah CONRAD.

He is also survived by his brother John Darrel SKIRVIN of Boerne, Texas.

A graveside funeral service and burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham with Pastor Jeremy Skinner officiating.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham.

Memorials may be made to the Keosauqua Good Samaritan Society or to the Good Samaritan Hospice.

Arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham.
