Mildred Jeannette Shaner
December 22, 2003Mildred Jeannette Shaner, 91, of 2237 Highway 34 East, died at 5 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at Parkview Care Center.
According to her wishes, the body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made and sent to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Behner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Shaner was born Aug. 3, 1912, in Fairfield, the daughter of Raymond D. and Elizabeth Pearl Anderson Angstead. She married Harry O. Shaner Sept. 10, 1933, in Memphis, Mo. He died March 26, 1992.
Mrs. Shaner lived her entire life in Fairfield. She was a bookkeeper for Cable Lumber Company for 28 years and Clingan Supply for eight years.
She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for more than 50 years, a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 386 for more than 50 years, past state president of Rebekah Assembly of Iowa in 1978-1979, and a member of Jefferson County Genealogical Society.
Survivors include one sister, Mae Newlon of Osseo, Minn.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by five brothers, Carl, Edward, Wilson, Glen and Donald Angstead.
