Sandra K. FRAKES, 72, of Mount Union, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at her daughter's home.
No service is planned; she wished for family and friends to gather for a meal to share memories and appreciate one another. Mrs. FRAKES was a kidney transplant recipient seven years ago, and has chosen to donate her body to the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa for scientific research.
Memorials have been established to Great River Hospice and the University of Iowa Kidney Transplant Unit. Memorials may be sent to Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, P.O. Box 656, Mount Pleasant 52641 or delivered to the funeral home, 709 E. Mapleleaf Drive, Mount Pleasant, during normal business hours.

Mrs. FRAKES was born Aug. 15, 1940, in Fairfield, the daughter of Fred and Jenny Darlene HOWE BAKER. She married Roger N. FRAKES April 20, 1958, in Des Moines,
She received her education in the Des Moines school system.
She worked as a machine operator for Universal Producing Company and American Chain and Cable Company, both in Fairfield.
For many years she worked in housekeeping at the Jefferson County Hospital, from which she retired.
She was of the Christian faith and had attended the Methodist church in Richland.
She was known for her crocheting and won numerous prizes for her afghans, baby outfits and other crafts which she made for family members and friends.
She was an animal lover, and was known for her hospitality to dogs, cats, squirrels and skunks.
Survivors include her husband, Roger of Richland; one daughter Darla FRAKES of Mount Union; two sisters, Jolene JONES and Margo JONES, both of Princeton, Mo.; two brothers, Johnny Dale BAKER and James BAKER, both of Princeton, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, William Earl; and one daughter, Susan Marie.
