Obituary.

Died, at the home of her parents, near Perlee, on the 18th day of June, 1892, Irma CHARLTON. It is with a sad heart that I write the obituary of this dear child whom it hath pleased our Heavenly Father to take from among us. Yes, the dear little one is indeed gone, her little pleasing arts and ways shall no more delight us. Who can wonder that “Rachel weeps because her children are not?”

Irma, the only child of Scott and Lena CHARLTON, was born September 10, 1888. She was therefore four years of age at the time of her death. Her sickness was tuberculosis, from which she suffered for more than nine months, being almost helpless for the last five weeks. But during all her sickness she never murmered (sic - murmured) or complained, and the language of all her conduct was “Even so Father, for it seemeth good in thy sight." She was one of those sweet-natured and amiable children whom everyone loves and it seems hard to think we shall never see her more on earth, but God designed she should now be glorified. He therefore sent his angel to bring her home. The angel gladly decended (sic - descended) and with him the child rose above the sun, moon and stars. The gates of heaven were thrown open, the angel presented his charge, Jesus smiled with ineffable sweetness and said, “Come, thou blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you.”

The funeral, which was conducted by Rev. Ethel, took place the following Sunday and was attended by a large concourse of people, who by their sad countenaces (sic - countenances), and many by their tears, sympathized with the grief-stricken parents and paid a silent tribute to the memory of the dead.
