Louie Gene JONES, 60, of Ponco City, Okla., former Fairfield resident, died early Saturday, Aug. 19, 1995, at his home.
The service Was (sic) at 2 p.m. today at Trout Funeral Home Chapel in Ponco City, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. A memorial has been established to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for cancer research, 825 NE 13th St., Oklahoma City, 73104.
JONES was born Feb. 22, 1935, in Granite City, Ill., the son of Louie A. and Reba DELL JONES. He grew up in Granite City and graduated from University of Missouri School Mines in Rolla, Mo. On Feb. 18, 1925 (publisher err), he married Pauline Louise HENRY in Salem, Ark. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Trained as a metallurgical engineer, he was employed by many foundries across the country, including one in Fairfield. He had been vice president and general manager of the McNally-Pittsburg foundry division in Pittsburgh, Kan., and vice president of Foundries for Ingersoll-Rand in Bethlehem, Penn. He helped build and was general manager for the Gardner-Denver foundry in Pryor, Okla., and retired from the Electron Corp. in Blackwell, Okla. He was a member of American Foundrymans Society, the American society for Metals, Trout Unlimited, the NRA, and St. Martins Episcopal Church in Pryor, Okla. He was an avid fly fisherman and also hunted and did woodworking.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Terry SESOW of Tulsa, Okla.; a granddaughter; a brother, Charles of St. Louis; and a sister, Betty WILLIAMS of Rolla, Mo. His parents and a daughter, Paula Aletha JONES, preceded him in death.
