Dorothy E. HARDEN

The service for Dorothy E. HARDEN, 82, 5604 Linden Circle, Johnston, who died at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 1991, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Harden and the Rev. Carl Riggs officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to First Presbyterian Church and the Dorothy Harden Scholarship Fund at Fairfield High School.

Mrs. HARDEN was born Aug. 15, 1909, near Batavia, the daughter of Charles and Gertha STARK HIDY. She graduated from Iowa State University. On July 31, 1937, in Fairfield, she married George A. HARDEN, who died June 4, 1981. She had lived in Jefferson County and the Fairfield community until March 1991, when she moved to Johnston. She was a school teacher for 37 years, 26 years in the Fairfield Community School District, teaching home economics until retiring in 1975. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, of which she was a past president, Retired Teachers Association, Gamma Circle and Cross Lanes Club.

Surviving are a daughter, Jean Ann RODIBAUGH of Johnston; two grandchildren and a brother, Robert HIDY of Booneville, Mo. A half-brother, Ralph, preceded her in death.
