Florence WORLEY

Fairfield - Mrs. Florence Margaret WORLEY, 59, a life resident of Ridgewood (sic - Richwoods) community, eight miles northeast of here, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday at University hospitals, Iowa City.

She had been a patient there for the past two weeks and was in failing health for the past two years.

Born Nov. 18, 1896, she was the daughter of Scott and Lena WORKMAN CHARLTON. Oct. 26, 1916, she was married to Leroy (sic - Roy) E. WORLEY.

Her husband survives, as do a son, Arthur WORLEY, near Fairfield; a daughter, Mrs. Katheryn BOOTH, Batavia; one sister, Mrs. Mildred C. ELIAS, Washington, D.C.; a brother Ralph CHARLTON, Houston, Tex., and two grandchildren.

Two children, her parents, a brother and sister all died previously.

The body is at the Omar Hoskins funeral home at Brighton and will be taken to the Weston Behner funeral home here Thursday morning.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Behner’s. Rev. Henry Teele officiating, and burial will be in Evergreen cemetery here.

Mrs. Roy WORLEY Taken By Death

Mrs. Roy WORLEY, 59, Jefferson county farm wife, died Monday night at University hospital, Iowa City, where she had been a patient for two weeks. She had been in failing health for two years.

Last rites will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral home in charge of the Rev. J. Henry Teele. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body will be brought to Fairfield from the Omar Hoskins Funeral home at Brighton Thursday morning.

Mrs. WORLEY lived eight miles northeast of Fairfield. The former Florence M. CHARLTON, she was born in Jefferson county Nov. 18, 1896, the daughter of Scott A. and Lena WORKMAN CHARLTON. She was married to Roy WORLEY Oct. 26, 1916, in Ottumwa.

She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Katheryn BOOTH, Batavia; and a son, Arthur WORLEY, Fairfield Route 2. Two grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Mildred ELIAS, Washington, D.C.; and a brother, Ralph CHARLTON, Houston, Texas, also survive.

Two infant children, one brother and one sister preceded her in death.

Florence was listed in a cemetery reading done in the early 1990s as Margaret Florence, but she's shown as Florence M. on her gravestone and in the above obituaries. She and husband Roy, who died in 1960, are buried in Lot 2nd.215 at Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, IA. Per her funeral card, casket bearers were Carl Diehl, Ray Stoner, Raymond Berg, Vernon Bates, Sherman Bishop, and Charles Cummings.
