Wendell VORHIES Dies Suddenly

LOCKRIDGE - Wendell C. VORHIES, 34, native of the Lockridge Community, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Jefferson County Hospital at 3:45 a.m. today.

He was stricken at his home north of Lockridge and rushed to the hospital by ambulance.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the First Augustana Lutheran Church in Lockridge with the Rev. Lenwood L. Monte officiating.. Burial will be in Vorhies Cemetery northeast of Lockridge.

Wendell C. VORHIES was born July 15, 1938, at Lockridge, the son of Carroll and Esther HOLLANDER VORHIES. He graduated from the Lockridge High School and attended Parsons College.

He was married Jan. 20, 1961, to Rosetta McKENZIE. He has lived his entire life in the Lockridge Community.

VORHIES was employed at the Burlington Ordnance Plant for a number of years, also at the Vorhies Implement Co. in Lockridge. He was a member of the First Augustana Lutheran Church and a member of the Lockridge Town Council.

In addition to his widow he is survived by one daughter, Gail, 11, and two sons, Terry 9 and Chris 8, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carroll VORHIES, Lockridge; and one brother, Dan, Monticello.
