Max E. MADDEN, 93, of Keosauqua, died at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren.
Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Max E. MADDEN, 92, of Keosauqua died at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society in Keosauqua.
A funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Douglas Harding officiating. Burial will be in Harness Cemetery in Mount Sterling.
Visitation opens at 3 p.m. Monday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with family present from 5-7 p.m.
Memorials to Keosauqua United Methodist Church may be left at the funeral home or church, or they may be mailed to the family at 3306 West San Juan St., Tampa, FL 33629.
Mr. MADDEN was born Dec. 25, 1919, in rural Mount Sterling, the son of Floyd and Hazel MADDEN. He married Evelyn MUDGE on July 19, 1942, in Ottumwa. She died Aug. 16, 2008.
Mr. MADDEN graduated from Keosauqua High School, and later, Iowa Success School in Ottumwa.
He and his wife lived many years in Mount Sterling where they operated Madden's General Store, first with his parents and then on their own until selling the store in 1981.
He and his wife moved to Keosauqua in 1986 and were active in both Mount Sterling and Keosauqua United Methodist Churches. He served several years as mayor of Mount Sterling.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel Floyd MADDEN and wife Kathryn of Tampa, Fla., and John Max MADDEN and wife Janice of Marshalltown; two granddaughters and two great grandsons.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
