Thursday, January 25, 1979Roy LAWSON dies at 76
Roy Franklin LAWSON, 76, Council Bluffs, formerly of Fairfield, died Wednesday night at a hospital in Omaha, Neb. He had been seriously ill two months.
The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Meyer Funeral Home in Council Bluffs. Services will be at Raymond Funeral Home on Monday at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Carl Riggs officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home any time Sunday afternoon or evening.
LAWSON was born Nov. 5, 1902 on a farm near Libertyville, the son of Alfred and Catherine BONNETT LAWSON. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1922 and from Parsons College in 1926.
He was married to Louise SIMPSON on Aug. 17, 1928. He coached and taught at Atlantic High School for three years and at Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs for 41 years.
LAWSON was a Mason, a member of the Lions Club and United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Louise; one son, Jerry LAWSON, Phoenix, Ariz.; and five grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, L. Faye LAWSON and Nina TUCKER, both of Fairfield.
He was preceded in death by one son and two sisters. The LAWSON home is at 38 Dillman Drive, Apt. E-1, Council Bluffs, Iowa 51501.
