David DOERR

David DOERR, 52, of Webster City, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Hospital.

A funeral is at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Webster City with public invited to an 11:30 a.m. lunch before the service.

Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Boman Funeral Home in Webster City.

Mr. DOERR was born Jan. 9, 1960, in Bowdle, S.D., the son of Bob and Priscilla RATHKE DOERR. He married Dawn M. DAMM of Trent, S.D. July 2, 1988, at First Baptist Church in Sioux Falls, S.D.

He attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls and graduated from Northern State College in 1984 with a bachelor degree in music education. He attended the former North American Baptist Seminary, now Sioux Falls Seminary, where he earned his masters in divinity, in May 1988.

He entered the U.S. Army through the South Dakota National Guard, serving at Fort Dix, N.J before a medical discharge due to an ankle injury.

He served churches and communities in Dell Rapids, S.D., Humeston, Cambria, Hillsboro, rural Bonaparte, Webster City and Mackey.

He was a member of Iowa Critical Incident Stress Network, Mid-American Baptist Minister's Council and Nurturing Professional Leadership Team of MABC.

He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed music and played the trombone.

He enjoyed community life and helping young people achieve their potential.

Survivors include his wife; his mother, Pat DOERR of Rapid City, S.D.; one brother, Tim DOERR of Aberdeen, S.D.; one sister, LeAnn BURDICK and spouse Mel of Wichita, Kan.; and one grandfather, John RATHKE of Pierre, S.D.

He was preceded in death by grandparents Jacob and Rosina FISCHER DOERR, grandmother Hilda FISCHER RATHKE, and his father, Robert DOERR.
