BRITT Rites Held Today

BATAVIA - Last rites for Huston M. BRITT, 69, were held this afternoon at the Campbell Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kermit Black officiating. Burial was in Batavia Cemetery.

BRITT died Saturday morning at Ottumwa Hospital where he had been a patient for three days.

He was born Oct. 24, 1907 in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Dr. I.H. and Ethel MOORE BRITT. Most of his life was spent in the Batavia community. He retired from the John Deere plant in Ottumwa in 1972.

BRITT was married to Helen JOHNSON July 2, 1937. Surviving are his widow and the following children: Mrs. Dayrel CROWL, Buffalo, Iowa; Mrs. Joseph KESSLER, Pleasant Plain; Mrs. James STEWART, New London; Michael E. BRITT, Batavia.

Also surviving are five grandchildren and one sister, Mary BRITT, Batavia.

Admin. note: In a reading of Batavia Cemetery, his wife is noted as Gladyce JOHNSON. She died in 2000 and is buried with him.
