Swan Martin, 83, of 804 W. Washington Ave., died at 5:10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Marvin Robeck officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, with the family receiving friends from 7-8 p.m. at Raymond Funeral Home.

Memorials have been established to American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or First Lutheran Church.

Mr. Martin was born Jan. 27, 1920, northest of Fairfield, the son of Swan and Hattie Johnson Martin. He married Fern Irene Aronson March 16, 1942, at Glendale, Calif.

Mr. Martin was a lifetime resident of Fairfield. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1937. He served in the United States Army during World War II, in the African-European Theater of Operation. He worked at the Louden Machinery Company in Fairfield for 37 years, 30 years as foreman, before retiring in 1982. His pastimes included hunting and fishing.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church, VFW and American Legion.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ron Martin and Terry Martin, both of Fairfield; one daughter, Jeannie Harwood and husband Tom of Danville; two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.

Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Theo Wymore and Norma Morton; and two brothers, Carl Martin and Paul Martin.
