Geraldine Leona PEEBLER

Geraldine Leona PEEBLER, 81, of 2237 Highway 34 East, died at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at Parkview Care Center.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Batavia United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Thomas Raphael-Nakos and the Rev. Dave Elmore officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery.

Family visitation will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to either Batavia United Methodist Church or Fairfield Friends Church.

Mrs. PEEBLER was born Aug. 16, 1922, in Jefferson County, home Crosslanes outside of Batavia, the daughter of Sam W. and Vernie MARING KITCHEN. She married George Edward PEEBLER July 4, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. He died July 20, 1968.

Mrs. PEEBLER lived in the Batavia community most of her life. She had been a nurse at Parkview Care Center for 23 years.

She was a member of Batavia United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for several years. She served on the board of United Methodist Women in the Ottumwa district. She was a past Batavia TTT member. She also was a hospice volunteer and served on the board for several years.

Survivors include three daughters, Sharon McCLEARY and husband Tom of Batavia, Andrea REED and husband Jim of New Sharon and Jean OLSON and husband David of Little Falls, Minn.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; three stepgreat-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sam KITCHEN Jr. of Keosauqua and Carol Jim KITCHEN of Illinois; two sisters, Kathryn DUNCAN of Salem and Barbara MELTON of Columbia, Mo.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Nellie, Florence and Neva; and four brothers, Billy, Donald, Gerald and Paul KITCHEN.
