Jack WILLETT

Jack WILLETT, 77, of rural Hillsboro, died at 7:50 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren Hospice in Keosauqua after a long battle with cancer.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Salem Congregational Church with the Rev. Aaron Helterbran officiating.

Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with family present 5-7 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Memorials to Feed the Children may be left at the funeral home or church or mailed to the family at 1285 Salem Road, Hillsboro 52630.

Mr. WILLETT was born Aug. 23, 1935 in Grand Coulee, Wash., the son of Earl and Lila RUTHERFORD WILLETT. He married Joyce McKAY Dec. 30, 1955 in Westminster, Colo.

He moved with is parents to Alaska living in Sitka, Ketchikan, Juneau and Auke Bay; then to Bozeman, Mont., where he graduated from high school.

He and his wife lived in Seattle and moved to rural Hillsboro in 1987.

He served three years in the Army National Guard and six years in the United States Navy in radio communications in Japan, Kodiak, Alaska and California.

He was a truck driver for most of his life.

His hobbies were camping, motorcycle riding in the mountains, traveling, reading, talking on the C.B. radio with many friends and spending time with his friends and family.

He attended Salem Congregational Church.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce of Hillsboro; two daughters, Wanda McCRACKEN and spouse Glen of Keosauqua and Deborah STETLER and spouse Dan of Burlington; two grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Paul; his twin sister Josephine in childhood and another sister, Myrna.
